email feature

I have a suggestion for the next version of Microsoft Outlook. It could be a real timesaver for alot of people.

Alongside the “Reply”, “Reply to All”, and “Forward” buttons, they need to add a “Throw Sender Under Bus” button. Here’s why it’s needed.

So let’s say you send an email to a group of people, and one of them replies ONLY TO YOU, not to the whole list. Despite the fact that they intentionally replied only to you and not to everyone, and that this is an indication that the sender didn’t see it fit to send that reply to the entire group, you’d like to, against their will, share their comments with everyone. Normally, you’d have to hit Reply or Forward and retype out the entire list of people before sending, because Reply to All on this new private message wouldn’t cover the original recipients (Note that this fact makes it ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to do this accidentally).

Well, with the “Throw Sender Under Bus” button, Outlook could scan the email to find any and all original recipients and be sure they were kept in the loop on those potentially embarrassing or incriminating comments. Ooo, and as a bonus, in the next next version of Outlook, they could have it analyze the comments, finding if there might be anyone else from your address book that was not in the original email that would be offended, put off, bored, annoyed, pissed off, or generally irritated by the commentary intended for your eyes only, and include them in on the fun as well.

Microsoft. Let’s do lunch. This could be big.

The next version of Exchange will have conversation threading, similar to Gmail.
